Also see Frequently asked questions to find more detailed information about licensing and purchasing.

Keep in mind

To enable JXL in your Jira site you need to have Administer Jira Global permission.

# Jira Cloud

  1. Sign in to your Jira Cloud site.
  2. Open the Apps menu in the navigation header bar and choose Find new apps.
  3. Search for JXL and click on the app item in the results list.
  4. Click Try it free to start installing the app. Jira might take a moment for this.

Troubleshooting

If the installation is taking a long time and/or ends in Jira showing an indefinite error message, this is usually due to a missing or invalid payment method or an open quote (account in arrears). Even though the JXL trial is (and even your Jira trial or plan might be) free, Atlassian requires a valid payment method to be on file in order to start trials of third-party apps.

How to obtain a licence

Atlassian has ended new listings and sales for Server apps via the Atlassian Marketplace. However, if you need more time to migrate to Jira Cloud or Jira Data Center, we are happy to offer a proprietary Fine Software licence directly to you.

Contact us (opens new window) and let us know the Atlassian Support Entitlement Number (opens new window) (SEN) of the Jira Server instance in which you'd like to use JXL. If you have multiple Jira products licensed (Jira Core, Jira Software, Jira Service Management) include each SEN separately. We'll generate a bespoke trial or annual licence for your setup. Once we have provided you with a licence key, follow the steps below.

  1. Download the latest release of JXL for Jira Data Center from the Atlassian Marketplace version history (opens new window).
  2. Sign in to your Jira Server site.
  3. Open the Administration menu in the navigation header bar and choose Manage apps.
  4. Click Upload app and upload the the file you downloaded in step 1.
  5. Ignore the licence key entry here in UPM. Instead, apply the key by navigating to the following URL:
https://{HOSTNAME}/rest/jxl/1.0/license/update?license={KEY}

Replace {HOSTNAME} with your Jira address and {KEY} with the string we have sent you. If the key was applied correctly, you should see a response stating that it's valid.

If you run into any trouble, contact us (opens new window).

Keep in mind

Once your licence key is applied, this licence and its maintenance period will not be listed in UPM and My Atlassian, as it is our own proprietary licensing system independent of Atlassian’s.
